I know what it’s like to wait for a dream to come true.
I mean, I really know what it’s like—because I never stop dreaming. And that means I find myself waiting a lot.
I waited 56 years to find my biological father.
I waited 58 years to publish my first traditionally published (not self-published) book.
So yes, I understand the ache of unfulfilled longing and the tension of the “not yet.”
In my recently released book, Uncommon Answers, I share practical helps not just to wait—but to wait well. If you haven’t picked it up yet, I’d highly recommend it—not just because I wrote it, but because I’m seeing it change lives and produce real results.
But I digress.
Today, I want to give you three simple, powerful things you can do while you’re waiting for a dream to come true.
Worship While You Wait
Waiting seasons can tempt us to become passive, discouraged, or even bitter. But there is holy power in choosing to worship when you’re tired, discouraged, or uncertain.
When Paul and Silas were in prison—completely stuck and surrounded by darkness—they sang (Acts 16:25). And what happened? A sudden breakthrough. Worship shifted the atmosphere.
Worship reminds your flesh who’s in control. It declares, “Even if I haven’t seen it yet, I believe God is still working.” Don’t let the delay silence your praise.
I’m a big believer in playlists. I create mine on Spotify, and for this post, I’ve curated a brand-new list specifically for those who are in a waiting season. It’s public and available HERE.
Listen to this playlist when you’re feeling low or tempted to despair. Worship not only lifts your spirit—it changes the atmosphere. Why? Because you are part of your situation. And as you worship, you are transformed, which inevitably causes something in the situation to shift.
As you go, so goes the situation.
Remain in a posture of worship.
It’s essential to your breakthrough.
Work the Season You’re In
So often, we wait to begin until the dream is fulfilled. But Scripture shows us God moves through people who are faithful with what’s in their hands now.
Let me say this plainly: If I can’t take care of what the Lord has given me today, why would I expect Him to entrust me with more?
I remind myself of this not just in ministry—but in everything from my house to my car. I once heard Joyce Meyer say, “You can’t take authority over your life if you don’t have authority over a sink full of dirty dishes or a messy garage.” That stuck with me.
We often talk about being a “good steward,” but lately I’ve been challenged to go a step further—I want to be a great steward.
David was anointed king, but he still served in the pasture.
Joseph had prophetic dreams, but he still managed Potiphar’s house.
The dream didn’t make them lazy—it made them faithful.
Here are a few questions to ask yourself in this season:
-
What small steps can I take toward my dream today?
-
Who can I serve while I wait?
-
What character or skill can I develop in this in-between?
I once heard a leader (I wish I remembered who!) say they never had a resume. They were too busy doing the work in front of them. Every promotion they received came because someone noticed them being faithful with what was in their hands.
Friend, dreams aren’t just fulfilled later.
They’re built in the hidden places.
Write Down What God Said—and Don’t Let Go
When a dream takes time, it’s easy to question whether we heard God right. That’s why Habakkuk 2:2 says, “Write the vision and make it plain…”
What you write in faith will anchor you in the fog.
Go back to your journal. Revisit what God said. Declare His promises aloud. Your emotions may fluctuate, but His Word does not.
I don’t just write down what God tells me—I take photos and videos of the journey. I believe that much that He will act. I want receipts of the process. I want proof that I believed back then… that I was pressing in even when nothing seemed to be happening.
I also share my dreams with a few trusted friends. That way, when the testimony comes, they can say, “I remember when you were believing for that!”
Your testimony is coming.
Write it down. Remember the process. Hold the line.
God Is Working in the Waiting
If you’re in a waiting season right now, let me remind you:
Delay is not denial.
Every dream has its appointed time.
And God doesn’t just care about the outcome—He cares about the you that’s being shaped along the way.
So worship.
Work.
And write.
And while you do, hold fast to this truth:
“He who promised is faithful.” — Hebrews 10:23
Your dream will come to pass.
But the person you’re becoming in the waiting?
That’s the real miracle.

I’ve come to realize something over the past few months while praying and fasting more, God has been showing me things, even in my financial setbacks and with getting out of debt… I never stewarded money well, so why would He give me more of it…
I am learning to be content now with what I have and not wanting and needing extras… He is teaching me budgeting and my debts are being paid down… it will still take time. possibly 1 year yet, But what Joy it will be when my last credit card is done…
There are other things to I want to steward better like my weight loss journey, it has been so hard since mom’s death But I have a dream of being Healthy and I know God wants this for me, so I will keep working and worshiping, I will praise before my breakthrough 🛐🙏🫶
